What is a postpartum doula?

The word “doula” comes from the ancient Greek word doulē, which means "female servant". A postpartum doula serves a mother by providing multiple resources, support and guidance during the transition into parenthood from the first few days to a few months postpartum.

This depends on how you forsee your postpartum needs to be met.
Some families hire a postpartum doula while they are still pregnant to be prepared ahead of time. Other families start their postpartum journey on their own and then recognize that they would benefit from a doula or wanted to wait to see if they needed support.
